Halloween is just couple of weeks away, and Coventry's cultural creative quarter, Fargo Village, is hosting a range of events in preparation. The vibrant village will host workshops, markets, and festivals for families to enjoy as the 'spooky' season and the October half-term commences.

Fargo Village is home to various creative, independent businesses that recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in September. The village hosts a range of arts and culture, theatre, dance, and music events for free or at a low cost for locals to enjoy.

We have built a guide on the events happening at Fargo Village in the run-up to Halloween, which can be useful for a family day out.

Ink Block Indie Comic Festival

Inkblot Festival is back for a 'vibrant showcase' of self-published comic artists, zines, unique items, and original works. The festival held at The Box events venue on-site includes thousands of comics from the 1940s to modern comics, graphic novels, and rare manga comics.

Tickets for adults are £3, with under 12s for £1. Tickets can be purchased via the Inkblot Festival website here.

Halloween Makers Market

The Halloween Makers Market will take place on Saturday, October 26, and Sunday, October 27, with a range of makers from the region. Find a selection of the most 'monstrous makers' and 'deadly designers' where The Box venue will be filled with some of the villages' favourite creative so you can celebrate Halloween in style, organisers say.

There will be all the spooky essentials from candles, needle-felted pumpkins, jewellery, sweets, clothing, fancy dress, and more. The market is free and open from 11am-5pm on October 26 and 11am-4pm on October 27.

Potions and Magic session

For those looking to create magic during the October half-term, you can make your own magic potion, slime and ghosts with your friends and family. There will be two sessions on Wednesday, October 30, from 11am to noon and 12:30pm to 1:30pm. The session is suitable for those over 7 years old and costs £15 for each child.

UV Paint Pour Workshop

Join Crazy Rah and Six Sided Society for a unique Halloween workshop and explore the world of UB paint pouring. While learning two paint-pouring techniques, you will experiment with UV colours to create two glow-in-the-dark artworks.

The session will be 1 hour, with 30-45 minutes to complete your artwork to create two 20x20 cm glow-in-the-dark pieces that will stand out under any light. The session will be in a small, intimate setting with a maximum of 6 participants.

The session will be held on Thursday, October 31, from 7pm to 8pm on the first floor above the Market Hall in Fargo Village. The session will cost £30 per person.

Cov Sauce - Samhain Rave

Are you looking for the ultimate spot for a 'spooky' boogie? Look no further than Cov Sauce, where the city's hottest local DJs will be spinning the decks, and brace yourself for a line-up that promises to 'elevate your night with legendary status', organisers say.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 7pm in the Commonground.

Escape Live - Horrible Histories Mystery Museum

Visit three distinct time periods, Rotten Romans, Terrifying Tudors and Vile Victorians, at Escape Live, where you and your team are tasked with recovering a 'horrible artefact' from each. This is the world's first and only Horrible Histories Escape Room, exclusively at Escape Live at Fargo Village.
