A total of 11 people will be vying for two seats in Parliament representing the Walsall borough at the General Election next month. Walsall Council has published the statement of persons nominated for the parliamentary poll, which will be held on Thursday, July 4.

Following Boundary Commission changes, the borough now has two constituencies to be decided - Aldridge-Brownhills and Walsall and Bloxwich, with Walsall North no longer existing. The incumbent members of parliament are the Conservative Party's Wendy Morton for Aldridge-Brownhills and Labour's Valerie Vaz, who has been Walsall South MP since 2010 and will now stand for Walsall and Bloxwich.

The Tories, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Reform UK and Green are fielding a candidate in each of the two areas. Independent Aftab Nawaz - who was leader of Walsall Labour group before leaving in November last year over the party's stance on Gaza - is also standing in Walsall and Brownhills.
