A family-run funeral directors has opened its second branch. Kevin Lownds Funeral Services has opened in Greyhound Court, Madeley.

It means Madeley now has its own undertakers. The unit had been empty ever since the closure of The Pet Shop.

Owners Kevin and Susan Lownds said: "Family values are at the heart of what we do. We are two generations of our family providing the perfect balance of tradition and new innovative ways to celebrate the life of people's loved-ones. We’re transparent and honest in everything we do and are always here for people who may need us day and night.

“We opened our first funeral home in October 2018 in Andrew Place, Newcastle, where we have cared for many families. It was one of our families from Madeley who suggested we open a branch there as there were no funeral directors in the village. We spent a lot of time over a six-month period walking around Madeley with our Labrador, Ruby, frequenting existing shops and cafes and meeting lots of friendly faces helping us come to the conclusion it would be a lovely community to be part of.

“Opening at Greyhound Court will allow us to grow our caring and supportive service for families at their time of utmost need. We have met a lot of people from Madeley already whilst refurbishing the premises and we are looking forward to meeting more of our neighbours in the days ahead."
