Funnel Cloud Forms North of Montgomery

Severe storms spawned several tornadoes and caused damage across Alabama on Thursday, January 12, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported.

This footage from Buster Smith in Deatsville, a town in Elmore County, north of Montgomery, shows a funnel cloud forming next to Marbury High School. The high school had been placed on lockdown and after school activities were cancelled.

At around the same time, the National Weather Service in Birmingham warned of “a large and extremely dangerous tornado” moving northeast through Autauga, Elmore and Coosa counties. Credit: Buster Smith via Storyful
