Funnel Cloud Spins in Northern Japan During Heavy Rain

A funnel cloud was spotted near Asahikawa, Japan, on Wednesday, August 7, following reports of heavy rain and high winds in the area.

Footage recorded by @kumiccoco shows the funnel cloud, which can be seen reaching down from the sky, but did not appear to make contact with the ground.

Local media reported that the area had been hit by heavy rain on August 7.

Level 2 and 3 weather warnings were in place for the Kamikawa and Rumoi prefecture, where Asahikawa is located, according to Japan’s meteorological service.
