A 19-year-old was caught on camera happily pretending to take a nap 156 metres off the ground after climbing a Russian skyscraper.

Using no safety equipment, a mere piece of metal was all that was stopping 19-year-old Alexey Kuzin from plummeting towards the bustling city below.

Even higher up, fearless student Alexander Voskresenksy, 23, stood taking pictures of his chilled out companion.

The daring duo took the vertigo-inducing snaps after climbing Moscow’s Kudrinskaya Square Building - part of the ‘Seven Sisters’ skyscraper group, which is topped by a huge star.

The duo used ropes to climb the star, with the only damage done to Alexander’s jeans on the way down.

“There were really wonderful views of the city from the top of Kudrinskaya Square Building,” said Alexander. “And climbing to the top was really thrilling. It was so worth it.”

In order to get the best pictures possible and avoid getting caught, the duo had to enter the building at 3am and wait to take pictures at 5.40am for sufficient light.

"With new trips, I always like to challenge myself more,” Alexander explained.

He took up his unusual hobby in order to see his hometown from a different perspective.

Aside from the sheer danger of the activity itself, there is also the added risk of getting caught, with Alexander intercepted and handed over to police twice in the past.

However, this has’t put him off and Alexander says he has ambitions to climb more buildings in Moscow and further afield.

"There are some buildings which I haven’t yet climbed in Moscow and would love to but many of them are very hard to reach,” he said. “The security measures are very tough there.

"I’d like to explore other countries and go roof-topping there. The views of Moscow have become a bit boring to me. It’d be nice to visit other cities with lots of skyscrapers.”

Incredibly, Alexander used to be afraid of heights but has ruthlessly conquered his fear by climbing buildings.

He said: “When I started, I was scared by heights. But you get used it if you do it enough.”
