Fury as man dials 999 and fakes illness to get lift to hospital to see his friend

Paramedics have told of their anger after a fake patient dialled 999 and pretended he could not walk to get a lift to hospital to see his friend.

Shaun Gerrard, emergency medical technician at North West Ambulance Service said the man claimed he had "reduced sensation in his legs and that his mobility was poor."

He was rushed to hospital by paramedics but when he arrived he simply walked off and said he had faked his illness so he could get a lift to see his friend.

Mr Gerrard said in a series of tweets: "A patient rang for an ambulance last night as he had reduced sensation in his legs and mobility was poor.
