A GAA playing doctor who had just been sent off was called upon to come to the aid of an opposition player he had just clashed with. This is the Tyrone senior club Championship and it’s not for the faint hearted.

The round one knockout clash between Omagh St Enda’s and Killyclogher reached a thrilling conclusion on Sunday as Sean Broderick scored a goal in the dying seconds to win the game for underdogs Killyclogher by 2-8 to 0-13.

The game was streamed live by Tyrone GAA and the last-gasp winner sparked wild celebrations at St Colmcille’s GFC Carrickmore.

Omagh defender Hugh Gallagher appeared to strike out at celebrating Killyclogher player Oisin McCann and was shown a red card by referee Stephen Campbell.

There was some concern for the stricken player, brother of former Tyrone senior star Tiernan, and a call was put out for medical assistance.

Gallagher had just been sent off the field but was called upon, in his capacity as a medical doctor, to attend to the injured party. McCann was part of the victorious UUJ Sigerson Cup squad this year.

Video footage of the incident has been circulated widely.
