Gail Porter 'sucker punched' trying to break up fight outside her home

Gail Porter has claimed she was punched in the jaw after she tried to break up a fight outside her London home.

The 51-year-old TV presenter revealed she had intervened in an attempt to "make peace" after witnessing two women fighting in the street.

Porter tweeted: "Please remind me… when 2 women are fighting outside my home… don’t go out and try and make peace. At home now with a punch to the jaw. Got to love London.

"And.. I was always taught, as being trained in martial arts. Never respond. Hold your guard and be kind."

But the Edinburgh-born former Celebrity Big Brother contestant shrugged off the alleged assault claiming she was not harmed and barely felt the punch due to her Scottish roots.

She later added: "But…. Today is a beautiful day and is was a sucker punch. No harm done. I didn’t really feel it. Being Scottish and all. But have a wonderful afternoon."

Porter studied martial arts when she was still at school and is a black belt in kickboxing and karate.

She has lived in London since rising to fame in the 90s as a TV presenter and regular model in 'lads mags' such as FHM. Her naked portrait was famously projected onto the Houses of Parliament in 1999 as part of a guerrilla marketing campaign for the FHM Sexiest Woman poll.

She has a 19-year-old daughter Honey with her ex-husband, Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave.

Porter was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.

She has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and spoken openly in the past about her struggles with mental health.

Porter has alopecia and lost her hair suddenly in 2005.

Last year she revealed a group of youths had verbally abused her for being bald as she stood outside a tube station.

She tweeted: “Another huge gang of teenagers standing outside the tube tonight. Intimidating and abusive. So many stories of stabbings. Which part of these youngsters do not realise that violence solves nothing.

“And, I know I’m bald. You don’t have to shout it at me.

“Ooh... if I was their mother! Slap on the heid kids!!!

“But... I always think, maybe they have not had the best upbringing. So kindness is always the answer x.”
