Gail's Solihull store confirmed as pictures show town centre bakery
Upmarket bakery chain Gail's is officially opening a store in Solihull, after months of speculation. After a number of rumours but little information from the chain itself, building works on September 25 confirmed Gail's is opening in Solihull town centre.
Workers were fitting out the former Laura Ashley store on September 25, with barriers installed outside the front of the store to allow for building works to take place. Signs saying "Hello Solihull, we'll be here soon" and "Are you the missing ingredient? Join our team" were plastered on the front of the building.
The posh bakery chain's regional expansion appears to be picking up pace, with its new Stratford-upon-Avon store now open for business and a rumoured Moseley venue. The Solihull high street spot would be the first Gail's store in the West Midlands.

Gail's will be moving into the former Laura Ashley store which closed its doors in 2020 during the pandemic. The unit has stood empty since, with applications lodged earlier this year by a pizza chain, which appear to have fallen through.
Founded in 2005, Gail's became famed for its bread, pastries, cakes, breakfasts and lunches. The brand appears to favour opening stores in well-heeled areas, making it a hit in places like the leafy suburbs of London.
Gail's has more than 130 outlets across London, the south of England and in the North West and the closest branch for Brummies to visit is its new Stratford-upon-Avon store opening earlier this month. As of yet, there is no confirmed opening date for Gail's in Solihull, but we have asked the chain what their plans are for the town centre and will bring that to you once we hear back.
Once open, the coffee house and bakery would join the likes of Boston Tea Party, Pret A Manger, and Black Orange Cafe serving up baked goods and hot drinks. Brummies have already reported getting targeted advertising from Gail's and a QR code on the front of their Solihull store encourages future customers to get a free drink by downloading the app.
