The champions of Turkey and Russia meet on the first match day of what looks like a pretty open Group D, which also includes Porto and Schalke.

Galatasaray haven't made it out of the group stage since the 2013-14 season, when they were knocked out by Chelsea in the last 16.

Lokomotiv, meanwhile, haven't even played in the competition proper since the 2003-04 season, when they emerged from a group that included Inter Milan and Arsenal.

​These two sides met in the group stages of the 2002/03 season, with both winning their away ties. Galatasaray won 2-0 in Russia but Lokomotiv were 2-1 winners on Turkish soil.
