Galyn Gorg: Fresh Prince of Bel Air actress dies aged 55

Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Robocop 2 star Galyn Gorg has died of cancer at the age of 55.

The actress's family confirmed that she died on Tuesday July 14, just one day before her 56th birthday.

On a GoFundMe page shared to raise money for funeral costs, her family confirmed the sad news and praised the star's "generosity, love and kindness."

"Galyn Gorg was and is a huge part of our family, she means so much to every one of us," their statement read.

"She was diagnosed with cancer throughout her entire body and lungs. The doctors claimed she had days, maybe a week to live and after remaining optimistic and praying for a miracle, she has sadly passed."

They added: "We were unaware of how sick she was as the diagnosis was a shock to the entire family.

"We hastily bought tickets to Oahu without a second thought, as she was getting treatment there.

"Since spending a great deal of time and money, we are now looking for donations for funeral services. Any donation is greatly appreciated, even prayers."

Gorg's breakout role came in 1990's Robocop 2. She appeared in David Lynch's iconic drama Twin Peaks in the same year, taking the role of Nancy O'Reilly.

She appeared in a 1996 episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, playing a boxing instructor. She also starred in Xena: Warrior Prince and had a guest role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Gorg also had small roles in hits like Lost, Parks & Recreation, How To Get Away With Murder and CSI: Miami.

Her most recent screen appearance came in the 2019 film A Christmas Princess.
