Doughnuts, a sweet favourite, are known for their indulgent flavour but tend to lose their freshness quickly.

Yet, TikTok user ayni_home has shared a nifty trick to extend their freshness using just water. In her viral video, Ayni reveals that by adding water to a pan and reheating doughnuts, they can taste freshly made once more.

After re-sugaring the treats, she delights in their freshness, saying: "They look fresh again. I've got a good feeling about this."

Celebrating the success of her method, the TikToker exclaims: "That works. Oh my God - they taste fresh. Don't throw your stale doughnuts away guys. You have to try this. Honestly, it works."

The clip has racked up thousands of likes, with many eager viewers planning to try the hack, reports the Express. Comments range from excited statements such as "I want some stale doughnuts to try it," to immediate plans like "Oh wow, have some in the cupboard as we speak."

Others anticipate using the hack in the near future with remarks like "I got some today, which won't be eaten, so will definitely do this." Another simply shared their newfound craving: "You have made me want a doughnut now Ayni. They look so delicious."

In related news, psychologist Jo Hemmings earlier shed light on what your choice of doughnut reveals about you. For instance, those who favour a custard-filled doughnut are often seen as reserved but incredibly kind-hearted, while sprinkle aficionados are considered youthful souls, generous in spirit, time, and money.

A survey by Compare the Market involving 2,000 doughnut enthusiasts has revealed that a traditional jam-filled doughnut is the nation's favourite, with over half (51 percent) of participants choosing it as their top pick.

Custard-filled doughnuts came in second at 35 percent, while chocolate doughnuts were chosen by 22 percent of those surveyed. Moreover, 29 percent confessed that doughnuts are their ultimate sweet indulgence.

Behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings commented on the findings: "The more reserved among us tend to stick to the enduringly popular choices of a glazed, jam, or ring doughnut."

She further explained: "These personality types generally enjoy being organised, and having their work-life balance well under control. They are often the more practical ones, compared to their playful, party-loving friends."
