Game Of Thrones Producers Apologise About Hodor

WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS from Game Of Thrones: The Door.

Game of Thrones fans were left devastated by the last episode as one of the most beloved characters from the series faced a heartbreakingly savage death.

In the dramatic conclusion, the White Walkers clawed Hodor (Kristian Nairn), within every last inch of his life, as he held the door shut to prevent the undead beasts from catching Bran (Issac Hempstead Wright).

Perhaps equally as surprising, though, we learned the origin of the loveable giant’s name. The revelation arrived in the form of a flashback of a young Hodor, who was once a stable boy by the name of Wylis, having a seizure and repeating the phrase “hold the door” until the three words merged together to form ‘Hodor,’ the only word that the character has been able to say throughout the six series’ of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

While many fans were left in tears by the outcome of the event, others took to social media to share jokes about the phrase. A lot of jokes.

And now, the show’s producers have apologised to viewers, but not because they killed off Hodor, rather for inspiring a whole bunch of “Hodor” jokes in elevators, subway cars, and office entrances.

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to explain why they feel so bad about the way in which the storyline has been left.

“We would like to apoloise for Sunday night’s episode,” Weiss, 45, said in a pre-taped sketch.?

With Benioff, 45, adding: “Not for killing Hodor. We kill off a lot of main characters… We’re sorry for all the idiots who from now on will be shouting ‘Hodor!’ every time you go through a door.?

“We forgot how annoying people can be. That’s our bad.”?

Well, as the old saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens…
