Game of Thrones: Emilia Clarke says she still gets 'a lot of crap' for filming nude sex scenes

Emilia Clarke has spoken about the negative reaction she has received for partaking in nude scenes on Game of Thrones.

The actor, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the show, said she has no regrets about shooting sex scenes for the show as they could not have just been "explained".

"There's not one part of the show that I would go back and redo," she told The Sun. "People ask me the nudity question all the time. But the short answer is no, I would never change anything.

"You had to see those sex scenes, as they couldn't just be explained."

The 32-year-old went on to discuss receiving backlash over a scene during the show's sixth season, when her character emerges from a burnt down temple with her clothes having melted away.

"I just wanted to come out and do an empowered scene that wasn't sexual – it was naked, but it was strong," she said.

"I get a lot of crap for having done nude scenes and sex scenes. That, in itself, is so anti-feminist. Women hating on other women is just the problem. That's upsetting."

Clarke went on to compare the series to The Handmaid's Tale, saying: "That is all sex and nudity. There are so many shows centred around this very true fact that people reproduce. People f**k for pleasure — it's part of life."
