The sexiest moment on Game of Thrones' epic new trailer might take a deadly turn once it actually plays out on-screen.
Amid all of Cersei Lannister's bragging, Daenerys Targaryen's boasting and yet more swaggering from Littlefinger in the clip below, there's an intriguing moment where Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan) shares a kiss with Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma).
While the hook-up might be every shipper's dream on its face, it also carries some dark undertones – since kissing a Sand Snake is usually followed by a sudden case of, well, death.
Jaime Lannister learned that lesson first hand in a Dornish prison a few years back after his pal Bronn was poisoned by a jab from one of the Sand Snakes' swords, and only lived when given their antidote.
His daughter Myrcella wasn't lucky enough to survive when Ellaria herself gave the young Lannister princess a kiss goodbye, as the ultimate form of revenge against her parents.
In the case of Ellaria kissing Yara, there isn't any obvious reason why she'd want the Greyjoy rebel dead. Both are opposed to Cersei Lannister and their houses haven't really crossed paths thus far.
So maybe it is love for these two fiery, fearsome ladies? Our only objection is it might rule out the Yara-Daenerys romance that so many fans are keen on.
Game of Thrones season seven begins on HBO in the US from July 16. The series premieres exclusively on July 17 on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV at 2am, repeated at 9pm on the same day.
