Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2 photos tease Jaime Lannister's awkward return to Winterfell

Following the reunion-heavy premiere, the second episode of Game of Thrones season eight will likely see our heroes make their final preparations for the impending battle against the White Walkers.

Before then, though, the Starks and Targaryens must work out how to deal with the distrustful Jaime Lannister – the man who killed Daenerys’s father Aerys, better known as The Mad King .

HBO has released 14 photos from episode two. As expected, the revelations are few, though we do see fan-favourite Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey) in full battle gear.

There are also multiple shots of Gilly (Hannah Murray), baby Sam, and Samwell Tarly (John Bradley), hinting that the family will play a significant part in the new episode.

Also of note, Cersei and the folks at King’s Landing do not make an appearance. Could the episode take place entirely in Winterfell?
