Game of Thrones season eight: Episode three spoiler pictures tease epic Battle of Winterfell

Game of Thrones has finally dropped pictures from episode three – and we don't know how ready we are for the Battle of Winterfell.

HBO released six first-look photos as the broadcaster teased the upcoming battle – which took 55 consecutive night shoots to film.

Sunday night’s episode is set to be the longest in the fantasy show’s history, coming in at 82 minutes long.

And it doesn’t look like the living – led by Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen – are having a great time of it, with Kit Harington’s character looking particularly horrified in one picture.

A second photo shows Sansa Stark, played by Sophie Turner, in full leathered armour, preparing to defend, while another sees her exchanging a concerned look with her sister Arya, played by Maisie Williams.

Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) are in position on the front line, flanked by an army, as the Battle of Winterfell takes hold.

Elsewhere, Tyrion Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage, and Varys, played by Conleth Hill, regroup in the crypts.

As well as the pictures, fans have already been treated to preview footage of the mammoth episode after last week’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

In the teaser clips, Jon, Sansa and Brienne of Tarth are all preparing to face down the Night King’s forces in the ultimate clash between the living and the dead.

Sansa remarks: “The most heroic thing we can do is look the truth in the face,” before her brother warns that the “Night King is coming”.

Game of Thrones is on Sky Atlantic, Mondays at 2am and 9pm and is available to stream on NOW TV and Sky Go.
