Has this Game of Thrones star just got a Tyrion tattoo?

When it comes to tattoos, these Game of Thrones stars really know how to keep us guessing.

First it was Sophie Turner's 'is-it-or-is-it-not a spoiler?' tattoo that had fans thinking she may have spoiled the end of the series (she says it doesn't, and also added she regretted ever revealing it in the first place too), and now Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, seems determined to stir things up too.

In an Instagram post marking Thrones' success at this year's Emmy Awards, Coster-Waldau also dropped in the casual announcement that he "got a tattoo".

You have to scroll through three images to get to it, but eventually you'll find a picture of none other than Tyrion Lannister's (Peter Dinklage) face as part of a huge tattoo on what appears to be an arm.

Now, we've been burned by fake celebrity tattoos before (looking at you, Ed Sheeran) so call us cynics but we won't be believing that this tattoo belongs to Coster-Waldau himself until we see the tattoo on his body with his face fully visible in the same picture.

Either way, though, it's a seriously impressive design and if it does belong to Coster-Waldau, it's a nice nod to his and actor Dinklage's off-screen friendship – especially considering both actors were nominated for the same Emmy Award that Dinklage ended up winning.

While Dinklage may have been the one to take home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, he did give a shout-out to his co-star in his speech.

"Thank you to my brother from another mother Nikolaj Coster-Waldau," Dinklage said. "I love you and I share this with you, because you are an amazing, handsome brother."

Now all we need is for Dinklage to share a tattoo of Jaime and maybe the fact that Game of Thrones is ending next year won't seem so devastating any more.

Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere in 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
