After eight seasons of ice, fire and everything ghastly in between, the cast of Game of Thrones can't wait to leave the world of Westeros behind.

That's according to Lena Headey, who currently sits on the Iron Throne as Cersei Lannister. The actress has been on the HBO and Sky series since the beginning, meaning she's outlasted poisonings, the deaths of multiple children, her other brothers turning against her and now an impending war with the living dead.

Some fatigue makes sense! During an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday (February 11), Lena admitted that the entire cast have deeply mixed feelings about Game of Thrones ending later this year.

"It's the end. It's the eighth season, which is bonkers," she said. "I feel totally chuffed – do I need to translate that [for Americans]?

"It just means really happy – to have been part of something like that for so long. I think everyone's ready to kind of do new stuff. But I think until it's over-over, I won't know how I feel."

Headey has been quite candid about her approach to the last-ever season. In January, she revealed that filming her final scene was actually quite "tedious".

"My last day on set was really weirdly tedious because I just had to shoot going up and down these stairs and that was it."

She then joked: "I can’t tell you anything, they’d kill me!"

Fans don't have long to wait now to see for themselves, though.

Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere on April 14, 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
