Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas marry in Las Vegas, as Diplo livestreams the ceremony on Instagram

Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner married musician Joe Jonas in Las Vegas last night (1 May), just hours after attending the Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Garden Arena. The surprise ceremony was revealed by Diplo, who livestreamed the pair tying the knot on Instagram.

And if that’s not wonderfully zany enough, the best part about this whole story has got to be the filters that the American DJ used to accentuate his sneaky videos, from the ‘puppy face’ filter to the ‘falling hearts’ effect.

The couple, who have been engaged since October 2017, exchanged vows – as well as candy Ring Pops – in front of an Elvis impersonator sporting a bright red all-in-one, Jonas’ brothers Kevin and Nick and the latter’s wife Priyanka Chopra.

Other celebrities in attendance included singer-songwriter Khalid, Jonas Brothers’ tour support act Mike Deleasa and country music duo Dan + Shay, who are said to have performed their track ‘Speechless’ as Turner walked down the aisle.

After they swapped ‘I Do’s’, Turner and Jonas danced and clapped joyously as the officiator broke into a rendition of Presley’s Viva Las Vegas. According to a post by Jonas on Instagram, Diplo performed at the seemingly-impromptu wedding reception.

According to the Daily Mail, the nuptials took place at A Little White Wedding Chapel’s Chapel, where several famous faces have got hitched include Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Britney Spears and Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.

The celebration – which is rumoured to have cost no more than $675 – was quite the contrast to Nick and Chopra’s three-day wedding extravaganza that took place in both the US and India, which is reported to have cost around $500,000.

Back in March, Jonas appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden and was asked about his relationship with Turner and quizzed on when they might have been planning on marrying.

“We’re getting married this year. We’re going to have a summer wedding,” he teased. “I’m looking forward to it, it’s going to be a lot of fun.

“We’re going to have a flag rugby game at the wedding, and a flag football game. So if all the groomsmen show up with black eyes and broken arms, I’ll be very proud.”

Whether he was just pulling our legs with those fabricated details or whether they had intended to do that later on in 2019 but just decided they couldn’t wait remains to be seen. Either way, the newlyweds seem happy with the way they ended up sealing the deal.
