Children at Gartocharn Campus enjoyed a fun filled day last month to raise money for Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Care Charity.

They were joined by family and friends and enjoyed a sponsored walk around the Gartocharn Loop and a family picnic afterwards.

Everyone wore yellow or dressed in a ‘Bee’ theme to reflect the Beatson Bee mascot and add fun and cheer to the day.

So far, the Gartocharn Beatson Bee Bonanza Day has raised over £7000 for the charity.

Anne McKerry, head teacher of Gartocharn Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare Centre, said: ”We all had a wonderful day walking in the sunshine and enjoying the company of each other. It was a special day, full of cheer and love.

“We hope that the money raised will impact positively on families affected by cancer. We would like to thank every member of our community who supported this event and for their very generous donations.”

Seonaidh McGuire, Community Engagement Fundraiser at Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “We are delighted to have the support from Gartocharn Primary School and grateful for their incredible fundraising.

“Donations like this allow us to work on developing new services to enhance the care and support cancer patients and their families receive during their cancer journey.

“Thank you to everyone in the community who helped to raise this fantastic amount of money."
