Believe it or not, it’s over five years since Dannii Minogue trounced her X Factor rivals by winning the TV talent show with singer Matt Cardle.

Now she’s back on British telly after getting an offer she couldn’t refuse from Take That’s Gary Barlow.

The 44-year-old Aussie singer will join Glee star Amber Riley and Spandau Ballet hearththrob Martin Kemp on the panel of Gazza’s new talent show Let It Shine. The series will scour the usual mob of deluded hopefuls in a bid to unearth five star performers to appear in a Take That-themed musical.

“I’m so excited to be returning to the UK and joining the judging panel of Let It Shine,” Dannii told The Sun. “To be a performer, you must have a burning desire to perform, then you train at all the skills you need to shine. This show gives everyone that chance. I can’t wait.”

Cheeky Gary spread the news of his latest appointment on Twitter by sharing a brilliant throwback photo of a fresh-faced Dannii lining up with Take That in their younger days.

The eight-week competition will consist of three stages – with Glee star Riley mentoring the hopefuls in the first stage. Details of how the later stages of the show will work are still a closely guarded secret.

“The ambitious format will place the spectacle of the group’s live concert experience at its heart and feature all-singing and all-dancing performances, unearthing performers from every corner of the United Kingdom,’ the BBC said.

Dannii’s last stint as a TV talent spotter was hugely successful, and she managed to win the X Factor twice during her three-year stint. Here’s hoping she can repeat the success this time around.

The Beeb has pinned its hopes on the talent show being a hit following the loss of The Voice to ITV, and with Graham Norton and Bake Off star Mel Giedroyc handling presenting duties, it sounds unmissable
