Gary Barlow's son, Daniel Barlow was one of many who attended the Ironman Wales on Sunday, September 22. Posting on his Instagram, Gary shared a picture of his son, who is 24-years-old, captioning it: "Very proud of my son - doing his first Ironman this morning."

The famous event took place in Tenby on Sunday morning as thousands of people gathered to sing the Welsh national anthem ahead of the 2024 Ironman Wales event.

The famous challenge involves a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run, where participants have a maximum of 17 hours to complete the race, as well as specific cut-off times for each part of the event. For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter

It is rare for Gary Barlow to share photos of his family to Instagram, with little known about his grown up son. Daniel appeared to have a determined look on his face in the picture shared by his proud dad. Among him is a crowd of people also looking as though they are also ready for the challenge.

Ironman Wales is recognised as one of the most difficult courses across the world, due to Pembrokeshire's hilly landscape, but it seems to have been a memorable one this year, with some special moments including people gathering on the beach at sunrise and singing the Welsh National Anthem.

As is tradition, all those in attendance sing Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau before the 2,800 athletes take to the water at North Beach in the seaside town.

And it seems that Daniel wasn't the only famous face in the area, as thousands of spectators gathered ahead of the 7.30am start, with the likes of rugby legend Shane Williams also among those competing in this year's edition.

It was also smiles all round as thousands of people lined up in the streets to cheer some of the runners on in Tenby as they went around the course, even though the weather conditions were forecast to be less than ideal.
