Liverpool eased past Manchester United with a comprehensive 3-0 win at Old Trafford on Sunday. The victory ensured Arne Slot's team go into the international break with a perfect record of three wins without conceding so far this season.

A first-half Luis Diaz brace followed by Mohamed Salah's second-half finish wrapped up a comfortable three points. Liverpool are next in action at home to Nottingham Forest on September 14.

In the aftermath of Sunday's win, footage has emerged on social media of a comical moment during the game when former Man United captain Gary Neville sang the praises of United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. Moments later the teenage midfielder gave the ball away before Salah made it 3-0.

"See Mainoo now is the deepest-lying midfield player, he's fine when he receives it in tight areas... well he was," Neville said on Sky Sports.

Liverpool legend and Sky colleague Jamie Carragher immediately reacted with a laugh before falling back into his chair with more laughter after Salah's goal. Neville meanwhile was left with his head in his hands.

The domant victory has raised more question marks over United boss Erik ten Hag who led Liverpool's rivals to a Premier League record-low eighth-placed finish last season. And Carragher has compared Ten Hag's situation at United to that of Brendan Rodgers at the Reds in late 2015.

"I don't think anything is going to change in terms of the football [at Man Utd]." he said. "I have seen this before at Liverpool. Go back before Klopp came in, when there was talk of Brendan Rodgers losing his job after one season.

"They weren't sure what to do, FSG [Liverpool's ownership], and they kept him and Rodgers changed his staff. You expect something different, but the manager is the main man. Rodgers was gone in October. Ten Hag said in his interview 'we will see where we are at the end of the season'.

"In Jurgen Klopp's third season [at Liverpool], they were in a Champions League final and you could see something building going forward. I would be surprised if he is still there at the end of the season.

"Man Utd are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Would Real Madrid or Bayern Munich accept being sixth in their league? We are saying eighth - that is where we are with Man Utd right now."
