Gateshead teen celebrates exceptional GCSE results just in time for her 16th birthday
As Pupils across the North East have been anxiously waiting to find out what grades they achieved today after months of hard work, a standout pupil at Dame Allan’s Girls’ School, Newcastle, is enjoying a double celebration today.
High-flying teen Amelie Dunning is celebrating a stellar set of GCSE results - just in time for her 16th birthday on Friday.
Amelie, from Whickham, Gateshead, achieved an exceptional set of results, including five grade 9s and four grade 8s.
Speaking of her success, Amelie said: “I’m super happy with my results. I’m so pleased I’ve got the grades, it’s a weight off my shoulders and I can now celebrate with my family!”
Amelie now plans to study Maths, Chemistry and Physics A-Levels, and is interested in a future in engineering. She recently secured an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship with the help of the school to support her next steps.
“I did my work experience at ORE Catapult in Blyth and really enjoyed it. I like problem solving and really enjoyed DT, which gave me an insight into engineering,” said Amelie.
She will continue to study at Dame Allan’s, moving to the co-educational Sixth Form based in Fenham - that offers pupils access to the latest design and technology equipment, including recently refurbished science laboratories.
Will Scott, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools, said: “Amelie has distinguished herself as one of the top performers at our Girls’ School, and achieving these incredible results just as she turns 16 makes this milestone even more special.
“We are proud of her accomplishments and wish her a wonderful time enjoying her well-deserved celebrations.”
