Gavin and Stacey fans surprised BBC airs swearing pre-watershed as it returns on Saturday nights
In a very tidy move, BBC One is re-showing every episode of classic comedy Gavin & Stacey on Saturday evenings to cheer up the UK public while we're self-isolating due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tonight (April 4) things kicked off with the show's first ever episode, which sees Essex boy Gavin Shipman (Mathew Horne) and his Welsh girlfriend Stacey West (Joanna Page) meet for the first time ever on an overnight trip to London.
They bring along their respective best friends, Neil 'Smithy' Smith (James Corden) and Vanessa 'Nessa' Jenkins (Ruth Jones), and it's not long before things take an unexpected turn as both couples spend the night together.

However, while fans were glad to see their favourites back on screen, there were quite a few viewers who were surprised that certain elements of the show made it past the censors, with some swearing included in the 8.15pm broadcast.
"Love it, but a bit surprised to see this episode pre-watershed on a Saturday night!" one person wrote.
"The phrase 'cheeky finger' used on BBC One prime time Saturday night before the watershed," another added.
I’m cracking up that our old dear Doris talking about fingering was just shown on the BBC pre-watershed 😂 #GavinandStacey

Plus, with the show being set in the late 00's, the slightly retro outfits and musical choices on display meant the nostalgia was very strong:
The soundtrack takes me right back to my teenage years/uni - but who on earth let us out dressed like that?! #GavinandStacey
