Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon has opened up about his character's sexuality on the show, revealing that he believes Uncle Bryn is gay.

Although never explicitly stated on the sitcom, fans have theorised that he might be gay as it has been hinted at in the scripts, but the comedian admitted "it's not ambiguous" and he thinks that Uncle Bryn just hasn't come out yet.

Speaking recently on the Table Manners podcast, the actor said: "There's a part of me that doesn't want to say anything because I think it should be in the mind of the audience.

"But it's not ambiguous, is it? I mean, I'd be surprised if Bryn wasn't gay. But I wonder if he's just never acted on it? They've [the show's producers] never said to me [if he was gay or not] – it's just what's there in the script.

"But, I mean, the way he gazes at Larry Lamb, at Mick, though he's a lovely looking boy..."

However, the actor said that it shouldn't really be for him to say whether the character is gay or not, and instead the fans of the show should make up their own minds about it.

"I think it's for the audience to decide for themselves," he added.
