Gazans Survey Devastation After Israeli Strike on Humanitarian Zone

Gaza health officials said at least 19 people were killed and dozens wounded when an Israeli strike targeted a humanitarian area west of Khan Yunis early on September 10, though officials told later told local media the number was as high as 40.

Those figures were disputed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which said a “precise” strike had targeted and killed at least three senior members of Hamas, including the head of its “air force”, who had positioned a “command and control complex” inside the camp.

“According to an initial review, the numbers published by the Hamas-run Government Information Office in Gaza, which has consistently broadcasted lies and false information throughout the war, do not align with the information held by the IDF, the precise munitions used, and the accuracy of the strike.”

The IDF did not provide its own information about casualty numbers.

Hamas condemned the attack and said claims of the presence of “resistance fighters” were “a lie,” local media reported.
