Great British Bake Off winner Rahul Mandal made his live TV debut on This Morning but was forced to rush through his baking segment.

Mandal, who beat Ruby Bhogal and Kim-Joy in the Channel 4 show, joined Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes in the This Morning kitchen to make gingerbread cupcakes.

After Langsford pointed out that his appearance on the ITV daytime show was his first in a live studio setting, Mandal admitted that he was nervous.

However, as Mandal showed the hosts and viewers at home the easy recipe, he also spoke about how he got into baking and how it led him to apply for the Great British Bake Off.

But as he spoke about baking cakes for his colleagues for work, Holmes and Langsford were forced to speed Rahul along with Langsford offering to put the batter in the cases so that he could move on.

Holmes later revealed that the show’s producers were telling him that he only had a couple of minutes left to fill his cupcakes with a caramel sauce and ice them before the presenter’s could taste them.

The presenter went on to quip that they needed to hurry up otherwise they were “thrown off air.”

Whilst Rahul apologised, viewers took to Twitter to express how much they loved seeing him on the show.

Having had a taste of Mandal’s latest creation, Holmes praised him by saying: “You should stick at this, mate. You’ve got a talent!”

Ruth, meanwhile, went in for a hug as she congratulated him on doing well.
