Gemma Atkinson says she 'had to resort to it' after tearful Gorka Marquez apology

Gemma Atkinson has said she had to "resort to it" as she issued an update on her home workouts and gym sessions. The ITV Emmerdale star has kept fans abreast with her health regime and workouts in the wake of welcoming baby Thiago, her second child, last summer.

The BBC Strictly Come Dancing star said: "Yesterday’s leg day finisher / conditioning. 25 cals on the bike into 20 Kettlebell goblet squats. *Repeat for 6 rounds* I used the 20kg Kettle bell for every round which was a new PB for me.

"I usually have to drop to the 16kg but I pushed through! It was slower than usual but I still did it. Slow progress is still progress." Gemma, who is engaged to Gorka Marquez, went on to say: "Had to resort to the old school house tunes to get my through."

Gorka laughed: "The funny part was you walking down the stairs after." It comes after Gorka was moved to tears as he divulged the guilt he grapples with when his work pulls him away from his loved ones.

In an emotionally charged segment from the reality series featuring him and his partner Gemma, titled 'Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens', Gorka shared with the cameras: "I was looking at the schedule and I'm not gonna be home at least for like five weeks.

"I hate being away. I just feel... not guilty, but you know sometimes I go 'oh I'm very tired' and then Gemma is like well, you know, I've been working the radio, doing other jobs and the two kids, you know."

He continued, expressing his remorse for not being present to support his family: "I just feel sorry that I'm not there helping. She understands and supports me. Without her I wouldn't be able to do half of the things that I do."
