Gemma Collins 'almost died' in terrifying Venice holiday ordeal

Former TOWIE star Gemma Collins has said she almost died after suffering a terrifying allergic reaction. The reality star said her tongue swelled up after she was stung by a wasp.

The Celebrity Masterchef contestant was on holiday in Venice, Italy, at the time of her health ordeal. In an update on Instagram, Gemma posted a video of herself desperately applying ice to her tongue after it had become swollen.

She posted a video which showed emergency services arriving by boat as gondolas rocked at the waterside. The Only Way is Essex star also thanked hospital paramedics for their quick response.

She said: "I NEARLY DIED …..My tongue swelled so quick thank god @rami_hawash_ acted so quick THANK GOD and the hotel was amazing and a HUGE THANK YOU TO THE HOSPITAL IN VENICE AND ALL INVOLVED." She added: "And OF COURSE I always say there is a reason for everything and this was my answer ….. Wasp is the powerful female warrior and shamanic healer, prompting us to take a good look at our lives and ask if we are fighting the good fight.

"If you are stung by Wasp, it’s her way of saying, ‘Wake up! Do your spiritual work!" Fans rushed to say how happy they were that she was OK.

One said: "Urgh, this happened to me last year. Drank out of a fizzy pop can and the wasp stung my throat! Horrific experience. Glad you’re okay." Another added: "Sorry to hear that Gemma hope you’re better now x."

Fellow former TOWIE star Mark Wright's mum Carole said: "This really made me laugh, can only happen to you, glad your ok. Xxxx."
