Gemma Collins compares herself to Bridget Jones as she responds to epic Teen Choice Awards fall

Yesterday evening the Internet was sent into a tizzy when a video clip of Gemma Collins falling through a hole appeared online.

The star was presenting an award at the Radio 1 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday [22 October] and didn’t notice that a trap door had opened to bring the winners up – twirling gracefully into it.

The clip soon went viral, with celebrities joining the flocks of Gemma Collins’ fans who were taking to social media to respond to the hilarious fall – and now Gemma herself has publicly responded to it.

Always one to laugh at herself, Gemma tweeted: “Guys, it’s ok, I’m alive – I’ve always said I’m like Bridget Jones.

“Don’t worry everyone xx best and worst moment of my life.”

She later shared the clip and added: “Madonna done it and I done it, when I tell you I’m Bridget Jones in an Essex girl it’s finally confirmed.”

After falling down the hole Gemma was helped back on stage with the help of Love Island’s Jamie Jewitt, Amber Davies and Marcel Somerville, telling the crowd: “Oh my God, I am so sorry about that. This is live, this is what happens.”

She later told the show’s hosts Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora: “Apart from just stacking it on stage I’m having the best time of my life.

“I’m kind of okay, the crowd have been amazing.”

Rita later took to her own social media page, dubbing Gem a “legend”, with Professor Green adding that the TOWIE star is his “spirit animal”.

Nick also poked fun at the accident, sharing a “Have you had an accident at work?” meme of Gemma, which quickly racked up thousands of likes and Gemma later regrammed onto her own page.
