Gemma Collins confirms she will try for a baby this year

Gemma Collins confirmed on Loose Women that she will soon be trying for a baby with her boyfriend and fellow The Only Way is Essex star James Argent.

Collins, 38, told the chat show panel that the real reason she went on Dancing on Ice was to lose weight so she should get pregnant.

“Regarding having children and everything, I was told I need to lose weight. That was why I agreed to do Dancing on Ice, to help me long term,” Collins said.

While they chatted about Jennifer Aniston turning 50 and childless, Collins lamented that she felt pressure to conceive.

“I’ve definitely struggled with it because a lot of my friends have gone on to have children and everyone asks when I’m going to have a baby.

“I did have a few problems and did feel not fully whole as a woman,” she said.

While she’d once been told by a doctor that she wouldn’t be able to have children, and has previously discussed suffering a miscarriage, the reality star said she’s seen additional doctors who say she should be able to carry a baby to full-term.

“Everything is going to be OK. I need to lose weight and take a drug called Clomid, which I’m looking to do at the end of the year,” she said.

Collins, who has been dating her TOWIE co-star Argent, 31, since 2017, said he wants them to marry first before trying for a baby:

“Arg is the one that keeps going to me about it. Then he said I would like to be married first. We’re definitely going to marry. He wants to do it all properly.”

Gemma Collins was the fifth celebrity to be voted out of this year’s Dancing on Ice. The former car dealer caused quite the stir on the ITV reality show.

She suffered a nasty fall while competing and also got into a shocking live spat with judge Jason Gardiner and told him to ‘shut up.’
