Gemma Collins insists she won't quit 'Dancing on Ice' and is 'shell shocked' by diva claims

Gemma Collins has broken her silence on her alleged ‘diva’ behaviour on Sunday’s episode of Dancing on Ice.

The 37-year-old TOWIE star has published a defiant video on Instagram that declares she and her DOI partner Matt Evers are hurt by the ‘nasty rumours’ but ‘WILL NOT [BE] SABOTAGED’ and that ‘our hard work will not be questioned.’

And in her Instagram stories, she goes into greater detail over the ‘hurt’ caused by press stories about her ‘diva’ behaviour.

“I’ve been really devastated by all the hurtful press stories this week,” she says in the first story.

Then she declares she is not quitting, even though she’s tempted to do so by the all ‘press reports.’

“I am not quitting. Do I want to quit after all the press reports? Yes, but I’m not going to!”

Her dancer partner, American professional ice skate Matt Evers agreed: “It was a little hard. But you know what? We will survive!”

Reports surfaced after Sunday’s episode that Collins had been late for rehearsals because she’d been ‘taking a nap’ and that she left the live episode before it ended because she was ‘bored.’

There were also rumours that Collins had refused to rehearse with a camera crew present. In a further Instagram story she asks two camera men, “Did I tell you at any point get your cameras off the ice guys?”

To which one replied: “Err…no we are always here!”

Collins continued: “I know people say I’m a diva, it’s a bit of a laugh, it’s not true. The reason we haven’t been on social media before talking about it is because me and Matt have been shell shocked. We didn’t know what to do.”

She also slammed The Mirror’s report that she’d called Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby ‘liars’ and said she thinks the hosting pair had been given ‘information that wasn’t correct.’

The ‘information’ is likely referring to what backstage Dancing on Ice host Kem Cetinay told Schofield and Willoughby on Monday. The former Love Island star told the presenters that Collins had complained to him that she was ‘bored’ and that she was indeed late to Sunday’s rehearsals.

He also said that Collins wasn’t acting herself but rather her altar ego of ‘the GC’ both on the show and in rehearsals.

Willoughby admitted that while she loved Collins she was far from impressed by this ‘diva’ behaviour.

“That’s absolute rubbish. That’s just a really good excuse to get out of stuff you don’t want to do. I love that side of her but I think professionalism will always outweigh that diva behaviour. Naughty Gemma,” Willoughby said.
