The candidates for the new constituency of Solihull West and Shirley have been confirmed as incumbent Julian Knight returns to defend the seat. Mr Knight was previously elected as a member of the Conservative party but has been independent since December 2022.

He is contesting the General Election as an independent candidate. The seat was previously known as Solihull but boundary changes mean it now takes in Solihull East and Shirley as well as Dickens Heath, Monkspath and Blythe Valley Park.

Mr Knight has represented Solihull since 2015 when he won the constituency from then-incumbent Lorely Burt, of the Liberal Democrats.
