A number of big name MPs are in danger of losing their seats in the upcoming General Election, according to a major poll.

The YouGov MRP poll, released on Wednesday, showed Dennis Skinner, who has been a Labour MP for Bolsover since 1970, could lose his seat to the Conservative Party.

The constituency in Derbyshire has been a Labour seat since it was created in 1950, and is one of many historically Labour voting areas set to change, if the poll is correct.

Among the predicted 45 Labour seats set to turn blue on December 12 is Don Valley, in South Yorkshire, a Labour stronghold since 1922, where former minister Caroline Flint has been the MP since 1997.

Meanwhile, Wakefield, a Labour constituency since 1932, would fall to the Conservatives by more than ten percentage points.

Jon Cruddas, who once stood for party leadership could lose his Dagenham and Rainham seat, while West Bromwich East, the seat of outgoing deputy leader Tom Watson and Workington are also set to change over to the Conservatives.

Kirkcaldy & Cowdenbeath, which was once held by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, is forecasted to become an SNP seat.

But there would also be some Conservative losses if the poll is correct, Zac Goldsmith, an environment minister, would lose Richmond Park to the Liberal Democrats by 14 percentage points.

However, this is a rare win in what is predicted to be a night of big name losses for Jo Swinson's party, former Labour MP Chuka Umunna is tied with Labour behind the Conservatives in Cities of London & Westminster, while Tory defector Sam Gyimah is eight points behind his former party in Kensington.

Luciana Berger, Sarah Wollaston, Phillip Lee and Antoinette Sandbach are also quite a way behind.

Independent candidates are also forecasted to have a miserable evening, Dominic Grieve is set to lose his Beaconsfield seat after leaving the Conservative party over Brexit, he could take 28 per cent of the vote share, half of the projected Conservative total. Ex- Tory cabinet members David Gauke and Anna Soubry are predicted to lose their seats.

The same poll predicts the Tories will win the General Election with 359 seats,a comfortable majority of 68.

Labour could win 211 seats, the SNP 43 and the Lib Dems 13.
