Geneva County lands next head football coach

HARTFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — Geneva County has found the next man who will lead its football program.

Today the school announced the hire of Al Gilmore to lead a team that just recorded an 0-10 season.

Gilmore comes to Hartford from Elba, where he served as the Offensive Coordinator for one of the state’s top offenses in 1A.

Gilmore has a record of coaching in the Wiregrass, spending time with Abbeville Christian and Excel High School in Monroeville, Alabama.

He brings his 17 years of coaching to Hartford; the Bulldogs are looking to make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

Gilmore is a native of Skipperville and his wife is a graduate of Geneva County High School.
