As the cold weather creeps in and the skies darken, the familiar struggle of drying clothes outside becomes all too real.

For those who don't have the convenience of a tumble dryer, the annual battle to dry laundry during the chilly winter months is well-known. However, there's no need to worry, as some clever home enthusiasts on social media have revealed an ingenious and cost-effective method for drying clothes indoors without having to turn up the heating or depend on a tumble dryer.

In a Facebook group dedicated to cleaning guru Mrs Hinch, fittingly called 'Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It', a user shared their go-to solution: "I use a clothes airer with a dehumidifier, it dries faster than my tumble dryer."

Another member praised their dehumidifier, saying: "I swear by my dehumidifier. Hang the clothes in the utility room, shut the door and a load is dry in four hours."

A third person also endorsed the use of a dehumidifier, commenting: "Wouldn't be without [my dehumidifier]. Scary how much water it takes. No damp problems anymore and our clothes are dry overnight", reports Dublin Live.

Additionally, another tip to expedite the drying process is to put your washing machine on an extra spin. Increase it to a higher setting or add an extra spin cycle to remove more water from your clothes, making them quicker to dry.

And for those fortunate enough to have a tumble dryer, here's a clever trick: adding a dry towel into the dryer with your wet clothes can greatly improve the efficiency of your dryer.

A user proposed: "If you want to make your tumble dryer work quicker and use less electricity then put a towel in with a wet load, leave it in for 15-20 minutes and then remove it.
