If you're someone who makes hotdogs often, you probably find yourself with a lot of leftover buns.

But now they don't have to go stale because you can transform them into a sumptuous treat instead. A culinary whizz, who goes by the name fitwaffle on TikTok, has divulged an ingenious French toast recipe that's set to revolutionise your brunch game.

In her engaging tutorial, the food fan revealed: "If you've ever got any leftover hotdog buns, you've got to make this French toast. Just slice your hotdog buns into quarters so they look like mini slices of bread. So cute. Then crack two eggs into a bowl, and whisk with milk (80ml) and vanilla (one teaspoon)."

Proceed by dipping the quartered buns in the egg mixture, ensuring you shake off excess liquid. Next, warm a knob of butter in a pan, and fry these mini bread portions until they achieve a golden colour.

For a final touch of indulgence, blend sugar with a dash of cinnamon for a sweet and aromatic coating to lavish over the toast. According to the clever chef, you can expect "soft and doughy" bites that embody total deliciousness.

It's a creative way to repurpose potential waste into a delightful dish. Taking into account that this reduces waste, and gives you a sumptuous breakfast to boot, the idea seems like a real triumph.

Since the video went viral, it's racked up more than 90,000 likes, with viewers showing great enthusiasm to give the recipe a whirl.

One viewer expressed: "Amazing idea. Also, I love your vids." Another shared their own experience, writing: "I tried this. It's the easiest thing to do and it's delicious. I even have your no-bake baking book - it's amazing."

Another chimed in with: "You, madam, are an absolute genius." Someone else added: "Never thought to try with hotdog buns, and my kids loved it. Thanks!"
