George Galloway has been sacked from his presenting role on talkRADIO after being accused of posting an anti-Semitic tweet.

The former MP and radio host had celebrated Liverpool’s win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final by tweeting “no Israel flags on the cup” on Saturday evening.

Galloway had complained that his Saturday evening tweet had been reported to Twitter, and on Monday morning announced that he had been sacked from his radio job.

talkRADIO confirmed that they had cancelled Galloway’s show, tweeting: “talkRADIO has terminated George Galloway’s weekly show with immediate effect.

“As a fair and balanced news provider, talkRADIO does not tolerate anti-semitic views.”

Galloway had also got into a Twitter row with Lord Sugar, a Spurs fan, before he found out he had lost his job.

He challenged Lord Sugar to a debate on racism after the Apprentice boss accused him of anti-Semitism and racism.

Galloway promised that his cancelled show would be back, tweeting: “The Mother of All Talkshows - Unleashed - will not be silenced. Stay tuned for further details.”

He added that he had been anticipating the cancellation of his show and already had plans in place to relaunch it.
