George Michael was laid to rest at a private funeral service on Wednesday afternoon.

The music icon, who tragically passed away on Christmas Day, was buried at an intimate ceremony at Highgate Cemetery, attended by close friends and family.

Boyfriend Fadi Fawaz arrived at the cemetery shortly after 2pm, joining a number of Michael’s high profile friends, rumoured to include Kate Moss and Martin Kemp.

Fawaz had previously claimed that he had been left out of the loop in regard to the funeral arrangements.

“The funeral? I can’t give you an answer, everything is being kept quiet,” he told The Sun.

“I can’t tell you about the funeral – it should have happened a long time ago. This has gone on and on. I was in the middle of it all.”

Fawaz added: “But I don’t know anything about the funeral, I really don’t know anything. Believe me. It’s all so strange.”

Last month a coroner confirmed that Michael had had dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart's ability to pump blood is decreased.

He was also suffering myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle, and had a fatty liver.

Oxfordshire's senior coroner Darren Salter said in a statement: "Inquires into the death of George Michael have been concluded and the final post mortem report received.

"As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further inquiries.

"No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy."
