George Shelley Releases Twitter Statement About Union J Exit

It’s been a pretty big morning in Union J’s world, with claims that the band have ‘kicked George Shelley out’.

Responding to the claims, George’s spokesperson said the remaining band members were ‘jealous’ before they - JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley and Josh Cuthbert - took to social media to DENY that they’d kicked him out and to wish him all the best.

Now, after his spokesperson had their say, George has broken his silence on Twitter, saying he was ‘shocked’ to see reports that he’d been kicked out and revealing his solo plans.

He wrote: “I was shocked and bemused to wake up this morning to reports that I had been ‘kicked out’ of Union J. The decision for Union J to continue on without me was entirely mutual between me and the boys, and an official press release detailing the facts was due to be released this morning!”

He described his time with the band as an ‘incredible journey’ and an experience he will always be grateful for.

He went on to deny claims made about his behaviour, writing: “To imply that my ‘diva behaviour’ and ‘lack of commitment’ led to the end of my journey with Union J is both hurtful and untrue.”

Wishing the remaining boys, who told The Sun that they gave the I’m A Celebrity runner-up an ultimatum and are now searching for a new fourth member, the ‘very best’ and thanking everyone who has supported him, George revealed his solo plans.

He explained that he will be focusing on a broadcasting and acting career, but will also ‘still be writing and performing music’.

We’re wishing all four boys all the best.
