George Webster's Strictly dream comes true

George Webster says his mind was "blown" when he stepped foot on the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ dancefloor.

The 22-year-old CBeebies host - who made history when he became the first BBC children's presenter with Down's syndrome - will appear on the BBC One star-studded Latin and ballroom competition's festive edition on Christmas Day (25.12.22), and he accepted the offer to take part in the programme "straight away".

He said: “I've always loved the show, I watch it every year and I remember when me and my sister were dancing around the living room, downstairs whilst watching it on TV. And from then I've always loved the show.

"So when the call came in I said, 'Yes, yes!' Straight away. It blew my mind actually being here!"

George, who will be partnered with pro dancer Amy Dowden on the show, admitted it has been a "dream come true" to complete alongside podcaster Rosie Ramsey, Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts and actor Larry Lamb on the programme.

He said: "I feel so excited and ecstatic! It's just so much fun, a dream come true. I'm just loving everything second, it’s brilliant.

"It feels really fun, I just love the whole experience, it’s so much fun and I love to bring the joy to everyone on Christmas Day. We’re going to be dancing in gold outfits, I love them. They're so cool."

The children’s TV host revealed his favourite film, 'Nativity', inspired “the theme” of his performance on the Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly-fronted show.

George said: “My favourite is the film that is the theme of our dance, ‘Nativity’, it brings so much joy! It’s really festive and really funny, especially with Mr Poppy. He just so hilarious and it’s all about bringing people together, what Christmas is all about.”
