George Zimmerman Celebrity Boxing Match With Rapper DMX Cancelled

George Zimmerman will no longer be expecting a pounding from rapper DMX after his celebrity boxing match was cancelled.

The unconvinced killer of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin was scheduled to step into the ring with the 43-year-old hip hop star for the epic showdown on 1 March.

But Damon Feldman, the controversial promoter behind the bout, revealed that he was forced to call off the highly-anticipated event following a wave of criticism.

In a series of tweets, Feldman explained that he had decided to walk away from the huge payday after he was accused of disrespecting Martin's legacy by branding his killer a 'celebrity'.

DMX, real name Earl Simmons, said: "I am going to beat the living f**k out him ... I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up."

In 2013, Zimmerman was cleared of the murder of 17-year-old Martin, who he confronted and shot as he walked through a gated community in Miami, Florida in February 2012.

The former neighbourhood watchman's acquittal sparked worldwide protests.
