Georgina Baillie’s relationship with the actor, who died last week at the age of 86, was put to the ultimate test during the ‘Sachsgate’ affair.

In case you’ve somehow forgotten, way back in 2008 Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross left obscene messages on Sachs’ answerphone live on their Radio 2 show, bellowing crude gags about Brand’s fling with Georgina.

The incident left Sachs heartbroken, and his wife Melody revealed this week that she never forgave Brand and Ross.

“My sadness is that I never got to punch Jonathan Ross. I have had the most pathetic of letters from Russell Brand. Those two are completely awful,” she said.

The Sunday Mirror has revealed that 31-year-old Georgina attended the star’s funeral, and also paid tribute to her granddad in a heartfelt Facebook post. “Thank you so much for your kind condolences for my granddad’s passing,” it read. “He was a wonderful inspiration to me.”

Sachsgate eventually resulted in Brand’s decision to quit the BBC, while Ross received a 12 week suspension. The Fawlty Towers actor endured further misery when Georgina decided to go public with her side of the affair with 41-year-old Brand a few weeks later.

At the time of the incident, Georgina was famously part of a dance troupe named the Satanic Sluts, whose schtick consisted of ripping off their outfits and smearing each other in fake blood.

“I love [my grandparents] and miss them so much,” Georgina said in an interview last year. “I admit I was a nightmare in my early 20s. I’ve tried to repair my relationship with my grandparents. I’ve sent letters, flowers, emails. They were understandably angry.”

Eight years on, Georgina has quit dancing and now has ambitions to follow in her granddad’s footsteps as an actor.

“If only they would see me perform,” she said last year.. “Then they could see for themselves.

“Grandad always said I needed to grow up and change.”
