Thousands of tablets of party drug ecstasy moulded in the shape of Donald Trump’s head have been seized by German police.

The huge haul, which authorities estimate has a street value of £36,000, was discovered after officers checked an Austrian-registered car on the A30 highway in Osnabrück, northern Germany on Saturday.

A 51-year-old man and his 17-year-old son, reportedly told officers they had been in the Netherlands to buy a vehicle but hadn't succeeded so were returning home.

In total, 5,000 of the orange, Trump shaped tablets were recovered alongside an unspecified amount of cash.

A spokesman for the Osnabruck police said on Facebook: “The Autobahn polizei Osnabrück had the right nose again on Saturday.

“She checked on Saturday at 9pm on the A30 the height of a passenger car with an Austrian registration, which was headed towards Hanover.”

He went on: “In the control of the car, the officials found 5000 Ecstasy Tablets, with the portrait of the American President Donald Trump.

“In addition, a large amount of cash has also been secured.”

The pair were ordered by a judge to remain in custody and the car was seized and towed away.
