Gethin Jones' 'classy' end to 'not your average' 24 hours
TV presenter Gethin Jones pulled out all the stops to get to the Child of Wales Awards 2024 after working up in Manchester ahead of the star-studded ceremony which celebrates the inspirational achievements of remarkable young people in Wales.
But the end of his night saw the BBC Morning Live star exit for a midnight snack in less glamourous circumstances, as Gethin admitted in his Instagram post sharing his busy day ahead of the trip to Swansea via helicopter! The former Blue Peter presenter wrote on his social media: "Not the average 24hrs. Started in Manchester and finished in Swansea, with all sorts in between," before documenting his hectic day that ended with him munching leftover cereal in his mate's car.
He showed getting ready for his TV job, packing his case, yawning in a lift, dancing with Strictly's Kai Widderington before flying into Swansea and getting ready for the awards at the Swansea Arena.

In a second post Gethin, who hosted the awards, expanded on his post-party snack and we have to say we're not envious at all, there's no kebab or pizza in sight! He wrote: "Got a chopper to the event, and then this is how I got home. Snacking on Kit Kat cereal (how good btw!) that Sam’s 4-year-old had left in the car . Classy me."
The Child of Wales Awards 2024, which raise awareness of heart-warming and inspirational stories involving children in Wales, saw Gethin joined by celebrities including Beverley Knight, Love Island’s Paige Thorne and Liam Reardon, The Traitors star Andrew Jenkins, singer songwriter Amy Wadge, sports star Gareth Thomas and The Rt Hon Dr Stuart Lawrence, plus more attended the special event.
Winners included children who were awarded for bravery, environmental champions and sporting heroes.
