'Getting Scarier': Efforts Continue to Contain Destructive Wildfire South of Reno
Fire crews in Washoe County, Nevada, continued efforts to contain a destructive wildfire on Tuesday, September 10, as a red flag warning was ongoing in the region.
The Davis fire, which began Saturday morning, burned 5,000 acres by Tuesday morning and was zero percent contained, according to fire officials.
At least 14 structures were destroyed in the fire since Saturday, local media reported on Monday.
This footage was filmed and posted to X by @Nevada_Meg, who said they filmed it from their home south of Reno on Monday afternoon.
“It’s smoky today and getting scarier,” they told Storyful on Tuesday morning. “We’ve been taking back roads to get home, but I think they’re shutting down some roads,” they added.
Red flag conditions, including high temperatures and high winds, were forecasted until Wednesday evening. Credit: @Nevada_Meg via Storyful
