Prosecutors have urged a New York court to investigate a juror in the Ghislaine Maxwell case who has since told a newspaper he was a victim of sexual abuse.

The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York has written to judge Alison Nathan, saying the "government believes the court should conduct an inquiry".

The juror told the Independent newspaper he "flew through" the prospective juror questionnaire and does not recall being asked whether he had been a victim of sexual abuse, but stated he "would have answered honestly".

Last week, socialite Maxwell was found guilty of recruiting underage girls to be sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein.
